[Racing down the interstate as fast as they fucking can, Johnnie tugs Chrissy closer and ducks low over his bike. They're streamlined now, they'll pick up just a little bit more speed, and then they can outride this giant evil fucking wasp for sure -
His eyes blink slowly against the light in the room, and then he frowns and lifts his pillow from under his head and flings it at the alarm clock on the bedside table. That shouldn't work, except that it falls off the table and unplugs in the process, leaving the room blissfully silent.
And now he doesn't have a pillow. Shit.]
Ugh. Hey, you up?
[Like Chrissy could sleep through that.
Soon enough though, he rolls on out of bed, gets the water going, tugs fresh clean clothing out of his bag, then checks on that shower. Yep, nice and hot. Time to get clean and ready for the day.]
Whatcha think? Wanna check out the cafe for breakfast? Maybe we can make 'em do some eggs an' pancakes even though they're gonna say it's dinner only now. I hate when places do that, it's such fuckin' bullshit.

There's just something about starting fires that really excites her, and giving him attention is always the best outlet for all that energy.]
That was amazing! I could feel the explosion all the way down here.
[Her forehead briefly presses against his as she nuzzles her nose against his, but she figures he probably needs to see so they don't crash and die. So she eases off and sits back down in the seat.]
Do you know what would be a fun way to celebrate?
Hm. Worth thinking about. Also, he has to figure out where they actually are now, and get back on the right road toward the canyon, but that can happen eventually. There'll be a sign somewhere.]
No, you tell me, whatcha got in mind, baby girl?
[It's a very sweet attempt to tell him what to do, accompanied by her finger poking at his cheek to direct his attention onto the road.]
And I'll see if I can distract you from driving.
[If he wants to figure out where they are, she probably isn't going to help him out any. Because her hand goes from rubbing at his thigh to palming the crotch of his pants in a matter of seconds. And she only keeps that up for a little while before working his belt and jeans open so she can reach into his pants and adjust fabric enough that his cock can be free. He's not hard yet, but a nice handjob can take care of that.
She takes her time with it, working at the foreskin so she can tease at his head with her thumb every so often. But other than that, she's just slowly stroking him for now.]
Are you still doing okay, baby?
But fuck, she has good ideas.]
Doin' great. Better'n ever. You're gonna have to work harder to distract me, though.
[All right, so he has to loop around town to get back to where they came from, that's what he has worked out. And he'll have to do it in a pretty wide loop, too, just to keep away from anywhere they've already been that might have cops. He actually winds up on the 40 again at the east side of town now, when they need to be on the west side, but he lets his foot rest heavier on the gas in response to her seeking fingers so they zip right along on that freeway. Somewhere up here is the exit they want that goes north.]
We're gonna find us a real good camping spot, light a nice fire, have our dinner, an' then fuck under the stars, babe. I'll make you scream loud enough the bottom of the canyon hears you.
[That idea makes her grin and laugh a little, as she gradually picks up the pace of her hand. Stroking him is well and good, and they have plenty of time. She could definitely get him off just like this. But after five minutes or so, her focus starts to shift. And that's when she knows it's time to switch things up.
Oh, she still strokes him. But keeps her hand near the base as she leans down over his lap and guides him into her mouth. She really wants to draw this out and make it last, so she doesn't go fast or hard. It's all slow suction and gentle bobs of her head, making sure her tongue only just barely grazes against where she knows he's most sensitive.
It's definitely not enough, and she's sure he'll lose his patience with it eventually. But she's having a great time gradually building up to something a little faster as he drives.]
[The sound comes out suddenly, even though he knew to expect that much-wanted sensation of her lips and tongue on his cock. He'd been hoping she'd go down on him; road head is basically fucking legendary and he hasn't had the opportunity hardly ever with how he's usually on a bike. If she hadn't take the initiative, he would've asked. Luckily, she's fucking perfect and he doesn't have to.
He does try to arch his hips toward her mouth for more, though, which causes some funny variation in their speed as his foot flexes with the movement.
They take the offramp to the highway that goes north without him even touching the gas pedal, though, given he doesn't want to knee her in the throat. It's a little fast, but it's nothing he can't handle.]
You can do better than that, baby girl. Don't you owe me? For givin' you such a good time gettin' you out here?
She eases up off of his length and wipes at her mouth, flashing him a lopsided grin that she tries to bite back.]
I think you're right. You'll forgive me for being selfish, right?
[Laughing, she brushes hair out of her face before going back down. She never would've imagined she'd love giving head as much as she does, but when it comes to him, she loves doing it. It makes him feel amazing, and that makes her happy. And it's fun to know she's the one who makes him come undone.
So this time she gives him more, working up to something faster and taking him in deeper so she can really swallow around him. Her tongue presses more firmly against the sensitive spots along the underside, and her lips offer something tight for him to arch into.]
Fuck, yeah babe, that's more like it.
[His eyelids flutter with pleasure as he moans, pressing his hips upward again to seek more of that wet heat in her mouth. But it's not urgent now, she's doing such a damn fine job on her own, it's really just reflex. Always, always wanting more.
Oh fuck, he forgot about giving the car gas, and they're crawling along as she swallows around him. He gives a choked sound of his own, then grins and bites at his lip like he didn't expect that noise to come out of his own mouth, while trying to get the car back up to speed. They're lucky he didn't kill the engine.
A few minutes more of that kind of treatment and he's just utterly hopeless. He keeps one hand on the wheel but the one that should be resting on the stick instead clutches at her hair, pulling tight, while his hips pump upward toward her mouth again and he comes hard. His heel flexes, this time slamming down on the gas a little too hard, and he can't help but yelp out a laugh as he tries to remember how to fucking drive.]
Sssshit, baby girl. When did you get so damn good with that tongue?
You've just let me get in a lot of practice, I guess.
[She laughs, finally wiping at her mouth. She tucks him back into his pants before doing them back up for him. Once that's done, she sits back up, and takes the time to redo her ponytail. ]
That was pretty fun. We should do that again sometime. I mean, practice does make perfect.
[He laughs and reaches over to pat her on whatever his hand hits first while he tries to actually look at the road. He gets her shoulder, so that's cool. Not her nose or something.]
Yeah, you can practice that one any day. Hell, I can always try to return the favor. Might not be easy but I don't let "not easy" stop me.
[Snickering, he tries to picture himself attempting to snake his head between her legs while she's driving. Okay, maybe he'd have to rely more on his hands. That's fine, right?
A sign eventually confirms that yes, the Grand Canyon park entrance is somewhere ahead, though from what he remembers of the map it might still be another hour. There's a lot of darkness out here, not much in the way of civilization or anything now that they've left Flagstaff behind. But above them, these stars shine bright and brilliant, no smog or city lights to dull them whatsoever, and he catches himself looking up instead of forward.]
Real damn pretty when you don't think too hard about all that. Hey, an' there's the green one.
Hopefully the people that live there take the favor they've been offered and remake the area into something better.
Chrissy can't worry about that for too long though. Because soon enough Johnnie's pointing out the green star and she's ducking her head every which way to try and catch a glimpse of it herself.]
I must have missed it. But we'll be out here for days, I have plenty of time to see it from our campsite!
[It's hard to be anything but cheerful and excited right now. This is like a little vacation from life, one that they've definitely earned. They're going to have a ton of fun over the next week, and she can't wait to get everything set up.]
It would be really neat if we could see a shooting star out here. The sky is so clear, it's like we can see every single star.
[Again, fine so long as he doesn't think too hard about it. But he can't worry about that shit, they're out here to enjoy themselves, so fuck those stars and the things that writhe and sleep out past them.
Eventually the radio dips out entirely. Is it a time thing or just distance? They still have a road, and it's still paved, but it's narrow, and they don't see a single sign of people for a damn long time until a sign finally appears to let them know that Grand Canyon Village lies just a few miles ahead, along with its fee station.]
Fees? Fuck that, there's no way there's someone out there right now collecting 'em anyway.
[And so he ignores instructions to slow down, and doesn't bother getting out his wallet, and sure enough the kiosk is dark and very shut down when he flies on past and into the park.
Now, they could just go right to finding a place to camp, but they have time and he's determined to do one thing first, with all this starlight here to bask in. He pulls right on up onto the South Rim drive, gets as close to the rim as the lookout parking will allow them, then parks and hops on out to run over and stare down into the canyon.
The vastness of it is, admittedly shocking. It faintly glows in the starlight, terraced and banded and so very deep and here at night the light doesn't reach the bottom. It's one jagged black immense crack in the Earth's surface, and he suddenly feels very, very small.]
It's...vast.
So much more than she was expecting. And it kind of feels like all that darkness is going to come up and swallow them whole. Rather than step back, she stands there, wide eyed and shocked, just staring down at the canyon. She eventually gets that same unsettled feeling she does when thinking about the monsters in Wilmington, and that's what has her taking a few shuffling steps back.
It's the sound of her feet on the ground that pull her out of that dread, and she laughs at herself a little as her head tips up to regard the stars instead. They glow so brightly out here that she's instantly captivated by them, and she decides that maybe the canyon is better experienced in the sunlight. The view above puts the one below to shame.
As her head comes back to herself, she slowly reaches out and fumbles for him, trying to grab at his hand. Eventually her fingertips brush against his, and she's able to slide her touch along until their fingers can link together.]
I feel so...so...so -
[She can't even put it into words. She's never been made to feel so small, yet so special at the same time.]
So lost. But in a good kind of way, you know?
Chrissy's hand in his snaps him out of that near-trance, and he blinks, then pulls her into his arms with her back to his chest and keeps looking outward. She's a good reminder that here there is solid ground to stand on, and he kisses her temple as a sort of thanks.]
It's one hell of a view out there. We'll have to get ourselves a better look in the daylight. I bet this place makes for the best damn sunrise.
[He needs to step away right now though before he loses this shaky grasp on the world they're a part of, so he pulls away from her and walks back over to the car, then leans back against it and has another look upward.]
There you go, there's that star you missed. Now, uh... We're gonna have to find ourselves someplace to get away from all this stuff, 'cause I bet if we camp here we're gonna have a buncha tourists come wake us up. That or a ranger. Wanna go see where this road goes?
Her arms slip around him, tight and solid and real, and she presses her face against his chest to breathe in his scent. A shaky exhale has her tipping her head back enough she can look up at the sky one more time. Sure enough, the star is green and glowing above them. That makes her smile a little, but she's quick to bury her face against him again. She does nod in response to his question though, and gives him a squeeze.]
Let's try to find somewhere no one will bother us. I want as much privacy as we can get.
[His lips against hers will make them both feel nice, so she claims a kiss or two.]
Do you feel like you can drive the rest of the way? You looked pretty overwhelmed for a minute there.
[No need to explain, she's heard it all by now, she can certainly guess what the issue is. And her attempts at soothing him with kisses, or maybe soothing herself, well, that helps. He manages a smile as he strokes a hand along her back, then lets go and gets himself back in the driver's seat.]
What we need is a nice big fire. And dinner, I'm ready for those leftovers. Will be once we get wherever we're goin', anyway.
[And that's going to take some exploring. The park roads are well-maintained, but with basically nowhere to turn off in this area thanks to large boulders preventing off-roading - and also, this is not an off-roading vehicle. It's too damn pretty to try that out, they'd scratch the paint up or worse.
So he turns back around and checks one of the maps posted by an overlook. There's a designated campground, but that's not where they want to be, that's where everyone else will be. New plan.]
Looks like there's these little side roads that go out before you get into the canyon area, out by this reservation, see? Maybe out there we can find ourselves a spot. Hope the road ain't too bad. This car is perfect in the city but out here you almost need a pickup.
[They could put so much stolen stuff in the back of a pickup. It would be awesome. She smiles and nods eagerly at the idea of that, reaching over to brush her hand over his.]
Let's try one of the side roads. We'll find something nice there, and my car can probably handle the terrain.
[Which is important, since she doesn't want to ruin her car. It's sweet that he thought to stop and look for a better path in the name of keeping her car in one piece.]
I guess if the road is bad, we can just park somewhere and carry everything.
[Which sounds fun, but it also sounds like the sort of thing that wouldn't last long before they get kicked out of the park and he does want to make this a nice, memorable birthday trip for Chrissy.
But back out of the park they go, and onto some forest service road designated with numbers only. It's a little rough, but he takes it slow and then it's not so bad. They wind their way out past rocks and shrubs and scrubby gnarled junipers until eventually the dirt road seems like it sort of just vanishes in front of them. Maybe they missed a turn, but maybe it's a sign.
Johnnie turns the key and leaves the headlights on for now as he hops out and looks around, hands on his hips.]
Whatcha think? I bet nobody's gonna come out here an' bug us. We got room for a tent over there, a fire here... Sure, we can't see the canyon from here but it ain't that far.
It's perfect, baby. [With a soft laugh, she leans in to kiss his cheek.]
Let's start unpacking everything so we can get set up and eat. I'm getting pretty hungry!
[His butt gets a nice grab and squeeze before she darts off back to the car laughing. The trunk is opened and she finds the tent. That's the first and most important thing that should come out. Only she realizes that she has no idea how to actually assemble one as she carries it over to set in the general area Johnnie's pointed out. Hopefully he knows what he's doing.]
Johnnie hasn't ever set up a tent in his life. He agreed they needed one, and surely everyone can just set up a tent out of the bag, right, because that's what people do when they go camping, but looking at the thin fabric and the poles and the stakes once he pulls it all out of that bag, well. It's a head-scratcher. But he can figure this out. He spreads out the tent itself and spots the little loops of nylon that must be for the poles, so...]
I guess it's just a matter of deciding which goes in first an' where. Uh, here, you go sit on the other side an' grab the end of this as it comes through.
[Will he get it right on the first try?
No. And also it's more complicated than that because the damn poles stick wayyyy out to the sides before they somehow get pegged down into the ground, and the one that's now over his shoulder is stuck in a bush, but eventually, eventually they're left with a tent that's upright and doesn't even look all that lopsided, and he grins at their very clear and powerful victory over a simple piece of camping equipment.]
Hell yeah! Okay, what's next, sleeping bags?
You stay here and rest after that. I'll go grab them!
[Those are easy to find, and she carries them both in her arms and tosses them right into the tent. That seems like a good place for them. After that, she goes back and just starts grabbing everything to put around the tent. If he can build a tent and be handy, she can be useful and get things out of the car.
She makes about five trips back and forth before she starts to get winded. Gosh, they picked up a lot of things. So she stands there with her hands on her hips, trying to catch her breath.]
Maybe the rest can wait until later.
[He hasn't exactly been sitting still either, but rather than carrying things back and forth, he's kicking aside rocks and clearing a spot for that campfire, then gathers up wood and some of their scrap paper to construct a nice structure to light.
And now it's time for that, so they can have a campfire to see by instead of the headlights. He lights some of those bits of balled-up paper and makes sure they're catching on those dry twigs in the center of the fire, then sits himself down beside it and pats his thigh.]
C'mere, come sit. Oh, an' bring those leftovers. We can start with those an' see what else we want after.
[Once his pie is within reach, he's just going to take that slice in one hand and toss the box at the fire with the other. He can eat a slice of pie just like a slice of pizza, it's fine, who needs a fork? Anyway, key lime holds together pretty fucking well, and once she's in his lap he holds it out so she can have some too if she wants.]
This already is really nice. It's so pretty out here, and we have a lot of time to see and do whatever we want.
[She has another bite of pie, making a soft mmm sound as she chews.]
Do you want to heat something up so we have a little more than just pie? I can find what we need to cook some hot dogs.
[She gets one more bite of pie before he lets her escape, though, and then he grins as he gulps the rest of it down quickly. Dessert before dinner? Absolutely. Nobody's the food police here.
He prods the fire until he likes the results, because if they're going to be cooking hot dogs, this fire needs to get hotter. And while it grows and burns, he makes himself busy by sorting more of the stuff Chrissy pulled out of the car - and then making sure some of it stays in the car. The cash she grabbed from the gas station, that's going in the trunk where nobody can get at it easily. He's about to leave the drugs in the trunk too until he decides now is actually the perfect time to roll some joints for later, so he sits back down by the fire and sets to work on that.]
She steals glances over at him every so often, and is struck by how he looks in the glow of the fire. He's always handsome in her eyes, but right now he's captivating.]
You're like the Jesus of joints, baby.
[She's giggling as soon as she says it, the tip of her tongue sticking out from between her teeth. It's a silly way to call attention to the fact she appreciates his joint rolling skills, but she figures he'll enjoy it.]
